Board Member Profile – Janey Howell

Janey Howell | Academy Mortgage Corporation  | Loan Officer  |  NMLS # 413650

1). How did you first get involved in NTEF?

Blake Knoblauch (NTEF Board President) is a longtime friend of mine. When he got involved in the foundation, he invited me to come to a board meeting to see if I would be interested in joining. After learning more about the Foundation and what they stand for, I became a member in August of 2017.

2). What do you enjoy doing in your spare time, (hobbies, etc.)?

I enjoy spending time with friends, traveling, cooking, working out and a little golf. I also have a wonderful daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandbabies that I love and make time to see as often as possible.

3.) How do you believe the community can best support the work of NTEF?

By donating! We want to keep serving the homeless students in the district. Awareness! We need to continually talk about the Foundation. The more people who are aware of what we do for the students and the programs we fund, such as the Learning Improvement Grants and the scholarships, the more support we will receive from our community!

Thank you so much, Janey for your dedication and commitment to students of North Thurston Public Schools!

Thank you to our Educators for a Successful Learning Improvement Grant Showcase!

Many thanks to the Educators of North Thurston Public Schools and to Clair Ferris for the photographs of our Learning Improvemnt Grant Showcase which took place on January 29!

The event not only included a grant showcase of what learning has been achieved through NTEF grant funds, but also information on the grant process itself. The showcase highlighted the important work NTEF does for our district – including Learning Improvement Grants, Student Assistance Grants as well as support of the McKinney Vento program and scholarships for graduating seniors.

Learning Improvement Grant Funds help teachers increase student learning tied to district and state learning goals. You have three opportunities a year to apply for grants, October 1, December 1 and March 1.
